San Bernardino County

San Bernardino County is the largest county in the lower 49 states of the United States. Only Alaska has one larger territory and that is technically called a borough. San Bernardino County is part of the Inland Empire of California and itself is larger than nine other states.

Though San Bernardino County is the largest in California it is only fourth in population coming in at around 2 million inhabitants. Even though housing prices have soared in California over the past several years, there is still affordable homes to be found in San Bernardino County without living atop a mountain or way off in the desert.
